PPDA Recognized for Proactive Transparency and Media Engagement

The Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) is honored to announce its recent recognition as one of the most proactive institutions by the esteemed Media Council of Malawi. This prestigious commendation was bestowed upon PPDA during the launch event of the Access to Information (ATI) Handbook for media on August 31, 2023, held at the Lilongwe Hotel.

The commendation from the Media Council of Malawi underscores PPDA's notable efforts in proactively disclosing information and fostering meaningful engagement with the media. This recognition is a testament to the organization's unwavering commitment to transparency, openness, and honesty in its operations.


Dr. Edington Chilapondwa, the Director General of PPDA, expressed his satisfaction and delight at this significant acknowledgment. He remarked, "We are honored to receive this recognition from the Media Council of Malawi. It highlights the dedication and hard work of our team in enhancing information accessibility and building strong relationships with the media."


Kate Kujaliwa, the Public Relations and Communication Manager for PPDA, emphasized the organization's core values of openness, transparency, and honesty. She underscored PPDA's role as a custodian of information on behalf of the people of Malawi and its unwavering commitment to sharing crucial information with stakeholders. Kujaliwa emphasized that PPDA has shifted away from a culture of secrecy, embracing a new era of trust-building through transparent communication.


The launch event was graced by the presence of distinguished figures, including Ms. Habiba Osman, the Executive Secretary of the Malawi Human Rights Commission; Honorable Suzan Dossi, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Media and Communications; and Namita Biggins, the Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy in Lilongwe. Their presence further emphasized the significance of PPDA's achievements in enhancing transparency and accountability.


The recognition received, serves as a testament to PPDA's proactive approach to information disclosure and media engagement.
