PPDA CRACKS WHIP ON ERRANT SUPPLIERS

The Authority


In exercise of its power, the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) has debarred six suppliers from participating in Public Procurement processes for breaching some of the provisions in the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act No.5 of 2025.


The   Authority has said the sanctions are in line with Sections 6(1)(g) and 79 of the Act, which empower the PPDA to suspend or debar any bidder, supplier, contractor, consultant, or service provider found contravening provisions of the law.


PPDA spokesperson Mandy Pondani has confirmed the development, saying such decisions are aimed at ensuring sanity in the Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets processes.


The decision aims to uphold transparency, integrity, and accountability in Public Procurement processes across all government ministries, departments, and agencies.


The following suppliers have been banned, effective February 15, 2025:

Mapopa Nungu, trading as Mata Butchery of Mzuzu, has been debarred for 60 months for contravening Section 78(1)(b) of the Act.


 Catres Sambo, trading as Frapat Investment of Zomba, has been banned for 18 months for the same offense.

 Edward Sayenda, trading as AG Auto Services of Zomba, has been debarred for 24 months.


 Lucia Chimenya, trading as DMC Investments and Consultants of Lilongwe, has been banned for 6 months.


Russell Khoza Kaunda, trading as NTK Investments of Blantyre, has been debarred for 48 months for violating Section 79(2)(h) of the Act, and


Mr. Mr. Russell Lungu trading as Skyblue Enterprises in Lilongwe has been banned for 24 months for contravening section 78(1)(b) of Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act No 7 of 2025 previous section 55(1)(b) of the PPDA Act of 2017.

 

The Authority advises all Government entities to take note of the debarment and ensure that the listed suppliers are not engaged in any public procurement or disposal activities during their suspension periods.
