EMBRACING E-PROCUREMENT
The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that suppliers across Malawi are fully equipped to participate in Public Procurement through the Malawi National Electronic Procurement System (MANePS).
Speaking during the training, PPDA Acting Director General Timothy Kalembo described the implementation of MANePS as a success, noting that the system has so far operated smoothly and is already transforming the way Public Procurement is conducted in Malawi.
He said the platform is enabling suppliers to access procurement opportunities more efficiently while reducing the costs and time associated with traditional procurement processes.
“MANePS is functioning as intended and suppliers are already benefiting from increased efficiency, reduced travel costs and faster access to procurement opportunities,” said Kalembo.
Kalembo emphasized that the training was part of PPDA’s mandate to ensure that suppliers are able to participate effectively in procurement processes following Government’s directive making the use of MANePS mandatory effective 1 April 2026.
He further revealed that there are currently more than 270 active tenders on the platform, presenting significant business opportunities for registered suppliers.
The Acting Director General further underscored the importance of ensuring that suppliers from all parts of the country are not left behind in the transition to electronic procurement.
The training which attracted about 400 participants, provided practical guidance on supplier registration, responding to procurement notices, Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and tender submission through MANePS.
